February is the month of love and this includes loving yourself and recognizing you and your body as the brilliant and beautiful being that you are!
Did you know that you're brilliant - mind and body alike? I know you know that your child is brilliant! Let's take a look at the brilliance of your body and how your body can learn to adapt and change - and how this benefits you!
Your Body's Brilliance + Your Healthy Choices = Happier Life
We talked earlier this month about reflecting on how far we've come already this year and celebrated our successes regarding healthy habits and supporting our bodies to be their very best!
How does your body know to keep breathing and to keep your heart beating? Is it something you have to consciously think about? No, of course not. Your body does this on its own without you having to think about at all. This is your innate intelligence at work.
Your body is brilliant. It knows what it needs and will always attempt to correct problems or alert you (your brain) to something that needs to be taken care of. If, for example, you eat bad fish and get food poisoning, it is natural and normal that you should feel sick and your body will do its best to rid itself of the toxins. This is a healthy and normal response. These symptoms are there for a reason and your being sick is actually good for your overall health.
We have the amazing opportunity to work with our own inner brilliance and make choices that help and support the health and well being we are trying to create.
Your body will always do the best it can, however, it's up to you to help it out where you can!
This means it's time to take care of yourself, to be kind to yourself, to take time to rest and relax, drink water, get adjusted, get moving among other things that support you!
In the event that you experience pain or some other symptoms – what is your body trying to tell you? Your body is reacting with these symptoms as a way to alert you of something. It's important that you listen to your body and have compassion for your process.
We talked last month as well about it taking up to 18 months to create a new habit and that your brain in always trying to maintain homeostasis. This is why the adaptive ability of your body and brain is so important.
If you've been feeling poorly for the last year and a half, your brain believes that is normal and will attempt to maintain it.
However, you get to step in and make some new choices and start down a healthier path. In time these new choices will become the normal your brain is always trying to maintain - this likely keeps you feeling a lot better as well.
Your body is constantly learning and adapting. If a person stops eating for awhile, their body will learn that they don’t get very much food and their body will begin storing all of the fats and calories it receives. This person's metabolism will actually change relative to how the body perceives its needs being met.
Similarly, as you progress through Chiropractic Care, your body will begin to grow accustomed to proper alignment and will learn a new way of being. Your body’s brilliance is beneficial to you.
This is the beauty of Chiropractic. In a study done, researchers found that the benefits that patients received through their Chiropractic Care did not diminish or stop after several visits. In fact, they found that their was no 'glass ceiling' when it came to health. Participants continued to meet and surpass and then meet new goals. I believe they found these results because of the way your body is able to change and adapt.
What are your health goals? Would you love to be able to meet and surpass your goals? Would being healthier and feeling better change your life or the life of your child?
I invite you to discover and honour your own innate intelligence and inner brilliance. If you aren't currently under Chiropractic Care, I invite you to discover what Chiropractic may be able to do for you. And, if it's been awhile since your last adjustment, know that you are always welcome.
You might ask; what results will I get from Chiropractic Care? The answer is, I don’t know. Each person gets slightly different results from Chiropractic Care, and it will depend on you and your body.
What I do know is that under care you and your child will be healthier! When your spine is aligned and your nervous system is functioning properly you have greater potential to create health! I invite you to come and discover how Chiropractic may be able to help you and your family be healthy.
